ISF

ISF’s are not required for containers which discharge at a Canadian port and entry the US via rail or road.

ENTRY

CBP requirements do not permit brokers to file entries on shipments entering the US by rail from Canada (i.e. those discharged at Vancouver, Montreal or Halifax) until the day of arrival in the port of entry. This means that the 5 day pre-file window afforded ocean shipments discharging at US ports does not exist for these shipments. As a practical matter, filing after the train has crossed the border is generally acceptable.
