TRACE SHIPMENT to ascertain accurate ETA information
FgL will additionally monitor the shipment’s transit to ensure timely handling at all relevant points
FgL does not provide “push” updates – all updates are available via our GATORView system
FgL will process original and revised arrival notices & other documentation as needed
Documentation of secondary important to FgL’s processes will be processed according to internal standards or supplemental service guidelines listed below
PREPARE ENTRY for filing with CBP
Due to the nature of Customs brokerage, shipments which require extensive communication &/or research to ensure correct entry may be charged additional fees in the form of flat fees or hourly rates, at the broker’s discretion. Every effort will be made to provide advance notice of such, but is not guaranteed. FgL strives for excellence, and in so doing, assisting all clients with premium service – that is, no surprises later!
TRANSMIT ENTRY data to CBP via ABI & other ACE systems
Entries which require data and/or forms with other agencies will be assessed additional PGA charges, per our standard fee table.
MONITOR GOVERNMENT HOLDS indicated in ABI & AMS
FgL will arrange exams where permitted to do so by CBP.
FgL will pass through any charges associated with exams, whether arranged by FgL or not.
However, for freight forwarder entries, the forwarder is expected to remit the charges directly.
FgL will not, under any circumstances, invest time with attempts to get CBP to waive the government’s right to inspect any and all shipments entering the USA.
In all circumstances, FgL relies on experience and sometimes unofficial CBP guidance in how monitoring & followup is accomplished. It is FgL’s position that people must be allowed to do their jobs without unnecessary pressure. Accordingly, requests to expedite exams, etc, will not be made.
VERIFY RELEASE via electronic means
For all shipments, FgL verifies that the release posts to the AMS manifest system.
For LCL shipments, FgL additionally verifies that the release posts to the warehouse’s tracking system – providing they have public tracking.
For BORDER clearances, this concludes handling of the file.
In all cases, this concludes services covered under “Customs entry fee” or “Customs clearance fee”. Any and all services beyond this, enumerated below, with the exception to entry summary corrections, are provided as a courtesy to all clients.
PROVIDE COPY OF RELEASE to select parties
With advance notice sufficient to allow for programming, third parties routinely involved in a client’s traffic can be set up to automatically receive notification of release.
For one-time and infrequent occasions, no such courtesy is extended, unless the client agrees to a $25 administrative fee.
ADVANCE CHARGES DUE FORWARDER / CONSOLIDATOR
For shipments where FgL is not involved in the international movement of the shipment, FgL will advance routine handling & other charges commonly assessed by forwarders & consolidators
This is an additional charge – see standard table of charges
For shipments where FgL is arranging dispatch of the shipment to an importer nominated trucker, or is arranging pickup, FgL will advance the airline, pier/gate or CFS/warehouse charges due.
This may be an additional charge – see standard table of charges
FgL does not advance air or ocean freight charges. Importers will be responsible for arranging same. This does not apply to cases where FgL has arranged the international shipment.
All charges advanced are subject to fees assessed by 3rd party payment platforms (PayCargo, Cargosprint, etc)
PROVIDE DELIVERY ORDER / INSTRUCTIONS to relevant party
Changes & intervention necessitated by 3rd parties not nominated by FgL (ocean/air carrier, forwarder) subject to administrative fees at broker’s discretion.
DISPATCH to trucker where appropriate
May require intervention of importer to obtain pickup number.
This applies only to shipments which are not contracted for delivery through the primary carrier, forwarder or consolidator.
CONFIRM PICKUP OF SHIPMENT
*Currently provided to forwarder accounts, but expected to be discontinued without announcement in the future.
Service discontinued 04/05/21.
For shipments not controlled by FgL for pickup, monitoring will be discontinued after free time has expired; if last free day is not indicated, we will provide this notification 7 days after arrival. Notification will be provided. Further oversight will be subject to administrative fee.
CONFIRM DELIVERY OF SHIPMENT
Provided only for shipments which FgL arranges delivery for.
Does not include shipments which FgL dispatches to carrier of client’s choice.
FgL will provide, on client’s request, tracing resources/guidance to facilitate delivery verification of carrier/forwarder deliveries.
FgL oversight of such deliveries will be subject to administrative fee.
CORRECTION TO ENTRY SUMMARY PRIOR TO ENTRY SUMMARY/PAYMENT AUTHORIZATION DATE
Corrections requested after the summary has been finalized (approx. 8 business days after release, subject to change) will be performed via PSC (Post Summary Correction) or Protest, as applicable, at current PSC/Protest filing rates.
FgL does not charge for correction of FgL errors
PURSUE REFUNDS FROM 3RD PARTIES OTHER THAN CBP
Any such requests will be undertaken only on a case-by-case basis at the broker’s discretion, and subject to administrative fees.
LOSS & DAMAGE FOLLOWUP, CLAIM PREPARATION & SUBMISSION
With the exception of transportation segments arranged by FgL, services related to missing, lost, mis-routed and damaged cargo are not included in our basic fees. Any services rendered will be assessed administrative fees, with or without advance notice to the client, at the broker’s discretion.
Unless marine cargo insurance coverage has been purchased through FgL, no assistance to claim preparation and submission is offered. This includes notices of intent to file a claim to the various parties. All such cases will be referred to your shipper, forwarder or marine insurance provider.
GUIDANCE ON PROPER DOCUMENT PREPARATION
It is our experience that free, unsolicited advice is treated as just that; for this reason, we do not provide professional guidance on how import documentation should be completed for maximum effectiveness. While we will often recognize the shortcomings of any given document on sight, it is up to the importer to request, and pay for, professional service in this regard. We are more than happy to assist…for a fee.
