Shipment Status Messaging

Last Updated on

The SHIPMENT STATUS message is a quick look at the general status of the shipment from FgL’s perspective. In order to most efficiently manage hundreds of shipments, the status is generally limited to standard phrases. Below is a list of the most commonly used phrases, and insight into what they mean.

Primary Schedule Verification

  • SCHEDULE VERIFIED
    • The shipment transit schedule has been verified via the carrier’s website. Any extensions to the carrier schedule, such as inland points, are based on standard schedules & observed transit times.
    • May include scenarios where the vessel has arrived at the port of discharge, but the container remains on the vessel at the time checked.
  • SCHEDULE NOT VERIFIED
    • The shipment transit schedule has not been verified via the carrier’s website. Schedules shown may be the result of shipper/forwarder provided scheduling, vessel scheduling or other data, such as arrival notices.
  • SCHEDULE REVISED
    • The shipment transit schedule has been changed; changes could include sailing date, arrival date, or inland date. It is not currently possible to identify which element of the schedule has changed in the Shipment Detail Page.

Shipment Departure Verification

  • SHIPMENT IN TRANSIT
    • The container has been verified loaded to the vessel, and/or the vessel has been reported as sailed. This service is provided for all shipments for which FgL has filed the ISF.

Shipment Arrival at Port of Discharge

  • CNTR(S) ON VESSEL replaced with SCHEDULE VERIFIED 02/18/19
    • The container is on the vessel, awaiting discharge. This message is typically only used on the or after the scheduled date of arrival.
  • CNTR(S) DISCHARGED
    • The container has been discharged from the vessel. This does not necessarily indicate that the container is available. For multiple container shipments, this status will not be applied until all of the containers have been discharged; this could cover a period of several days in some circumstances.

Container Handling Status

  • OUTGATE
    • The container has been picked up from a Container Yard (pier, offdock facility or railyard).
  • CNTR(S) PICKED UP
    • The container has been picked up from a Container Yard (pier, offdock facility or railyard).
  • CONTAINER PEND DEVAN
    • The container has arrived at the CFS (Container Freight Station), but is not yet unloaded.
  • CONTR DEVAN IN PROGR
    • The container has arrived at the CFS (Container Freight Station), and is in the process of being unloaded.
  • CONTAINER EMPTY
    • The container has been returned to the carrier’s custody, empty. This is sometimes used to determine delivery, allowing a file to be closed.
  • SHIPMENT AWAITS INLAND TRANSPORT
    • The container has discharged at the port of unlading and is awaiting rail movement to the final destination; or
    • The container has been devanned at the port of discharge, and the LCL shipment is currently awaiting domestic consolidation to an inland port; or
    • The air or truck shipment has arrived at the first port in the USA and is awaiting onforwarding to the final destination.
  • INLND LOAD DEPARTD
    • The domestic truck or container has departed from the CFS at the port of discharge, and is en route to the inland port of entry.
  • SHIPMENT ARRIVED DESTINATION PORT
    • The ocean shipment has arrived within the port limits of the destination port; it may be on the train or unloaded from the train, or in a bonded trucker’s yard; or
    • The air or truck shipment has arrived at the final warehouse.

Shipment Delivery Verification

  • SHIPMENT DISPATCHED FOR PICKUP
    • The freight has been made available, all releases are in order, and the trucker has been provided with the necessary information to pick up the shipment. In those situations where FgL is not providing the delivery service, this can indicate that either the indirect confirmation of trucker dispatch has been made, or the responsible party has been made aware that dispatch is possible.
  • SHIPMENT PICKED UP
    • The shipment has been verified picked up.
  • SHIPMENT DELIVERED
    • The shipment has been confirmed delivered. POD information may be available (see the yellow highlighted delivery schedule fields on the Shipment Detail Page for details.)

Border Clearance

  • CLEARED & CROSSED
    • This message appears on southbound border clearances from Canada once the shipment has been presented at the border and released.
